WHOA!
Church, our Missions Campaign goal was $50,000 and as of this afternoon, you’ve pledged $60,000.55! (To the person who added $0.55 to your pledge, I kinda love how it makes what would have been a wonderfully round number a bit more memorable.)
And more will likely come in over the next few days. We’ll update you on Sunday during the service.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your generosity! Through your contribution, you’re enabling missionaries to be supported around the world, a church plant effort to go forward, and two young men to join our local staff and invest in the next generation.
But in a lot of ways, this is just the beginning. Many of us made personal commitment pledges on Sunday. What do we do now?
I mentioned on Sunday that Christians often think backwards about how the church is to operate. Some think Summitview has just 4 ministers (myself, Aaron, John, and Perry), but that’s not true. Summitview actually has HUNDREDS of ministers, all of whom are called to the Great Commission.
Ephesians 3:10 says that God’s intent is for his manifold wisdom to be made known to the world through the church. God’s manifold wisdom is the boundless riches of Christ – the good news of the gospel. The “making known” is the work of sharing that gospel and making disciples. And God’s plan is to do this through YOU – the church.
Remember the whys outlined on Sunday – why would someone spend their time and resources on this church thing?
- So that we can be resilient, not tossed to and fro by a deceitful culture (Ephesians 4:14)
- To be a blessing to others through the gifts God has given us (1 Corinthians 12:7)
- So the world will see and believe God (John 17:21-23)
I think we all want to see this happen! But it takes all of us. So lean in now. Engage in conversation with your family, friends, and small group leaders. Consider how we can help each other put into practice the commitments that we’ve made!
