ACTIVITY IDEA: Celebrate the birthday of the Church!

On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came to the disciples with wind and tongues of fire and helped them to do things they’d never been able to do before like talk in new languages and have the courage to speak in front of crowds of people! As Peter spoke, he shared about who Jesus was, the miracles He had done, how Jesus had been turned in by unbelievers to be crucified, and how God raised Him from the dead!  The crowd understood and felt responsible for Jesus’ crucifixion and they wanted to know what they could do. Peter told them they should ask for forgiveness and be baptized, and the Holy Spirit’s conviction fell on the crowd and over 3,000 people repented and became Christians that day. It was the start of the Church…..the Church’s birthday!

Celebrate the birthday of the Church by making a birthday cake or cupcakes, blowing up red, yellow and orange balloons or just praying and thanking God for giving everyone the gift of the Holy Spirit when we repent and accept Him into our hearts as our Savior.
