The House That Love Built: Rebuilding Anne Kainu's House in September
Thank you for your willingness to help restore the land and lives affected by the High Park Fire. Lately, we have been doing what we can when we can to help rebuild a house in Rist Canyon that was destroyed in last year's fire. Anne Kainu is the owner and we will be helping the contractors complete the house. She lives alone and has lately been attending Poudre Christian Fellowship.
After the weather canceled out two of our workdays in September, we are headed back to Anne's house Saturday, October 19 to help the contractor finish sheeting the walls and roof, and maybe even installing windows and doors. Here's the plan for Saturday, October 19:
- The schedule | We'll rendezvous in the Summitview parking lot (1601 West Drake Road) at 7:15 a.m. We plan to start work at 8 a.m. The contractor will work a full day but you can work as long as you like. Please have your schedule planned out ahead of time if you are riding up with others.
- Address | 602 Whale Rock Road :: Bellvue, CO 80512
- Directions | Click here for Google Maps directions to Anne's place. From central Fort Collins, it will take about a half hour to get there.
- Gear and clothing | This is a construction site. Jeans and work boots are recommended. If you have tools suitable for construction, please bring them. All workers are encouraged to bring a pencil and a tape measure if possible. Pack a lunch and something to drink. The work will vary each Saturday depending on the progress made the week prior.
